Maryville is a city located in Nodaway County, Missouri, the United States. It lies in northwest Missouri, about 90 miles north of Kansas City and roughly 15 miles south of the Iowa state line. Maryville is located at approximately 40.346° North latitude and 94.872° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,633 residents, and the city covers about 12.30 square miles (31.86 sq km). Maryville was founded in 1845 and incorporated in 1856. It serves as the county seat of Nodaway County and developed as a center for agriculture, commerce, education, and government in northwest Missouri. The arrival of railroads helped the city grow by connecting local farms and businesses with larger regional markets. Northwest Missouri State University is now one of the most important institutions in the community and gives Maryville a strong college-town character.
