Nevada is a city located in Vernon County, Missouri, the United States. It lies in western Missouri near the Kansas border, about 90 miles south of Kansas City and roughly 35 miles north of the state line. Butler is about 25 miles east, while Fort Scott, Kansas, is around 30 miles west. Nevada is positioned near 37.839° North latitude and 94.355° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 8,207 residents. The city covers about 9.85 square miles, or 25.51 square kilometers, including land and water. The Bushwhacker Museum is one of Nevada's best-known attractions and preserves artifacts and stories from the area's Civil War-era history.
