Bonne Terre is a city located in St. Francois County, Missouri, the United States. It is in southeastern Missouri and lies within the historic Missouri Lead Belt. Bonne Terre is approximately 70 miles south of St. Louis, 8 miles northwest of Farmington, and about 5 miles north of Desloge. The city is situated near the Big River at approximately 37.9231° North latitude and 90.5554° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,903 residents. Bonne Terre covers about 4.10 square miles, or 10.63 square kilometers. Its most famous attraction is Bonne Terre Mine, which preserves the area's history as one of Missouri's important lead-mining communities.
