Dacono is a city located in Weld County, Colorado, the United States. It lies about 35 miles north of downtown Denver, 10 miles south of Longmont, and roughly 30 miles southeast of Boulder. Dacono is located at approximately 40.0847° North latitude and 104.9458° West longitude. The city covers about 8.27 square miles (21.42 sq km) and had 6,542 residents in the 2020 Census. The surrounding area is part of the northern Front Range and has wide plains with views of the Rocky Mountains to the west. Dacono was incorporated in 1908 and developed as a coal-mining community. Coal mines once played an important role in the local economy and helped shape the city's early growth. Today, Dacono is mainly a residential community with commercial areas and parks. Interstate 25 and U.S. Route 85 provide quick connections to Denver, Boulder, Longmont, and other northern Colorado communities.
