Where is Desloge Located?
Desloge is a city located in St. Francois County, Missouri, the United States. It is part of Missouri's historic Lead Belt and lies about 70 miles south of St. Louis. The city is about 3 miles north of Park Hills, 5 miles west of Bonne Terre, and roughly 15 miles south of Farmington. Desloge is located at approximately 37.8753° North latitude and 90.5276° West longitude. The city covers about 4.10 square miles (10.62 sq km) and had 5,222 residents in the 2020 Census. The surrounding landscape includes wooded hills, streams, and former mining areas typical of the eastern Ozarks. Desloge developed during the 19th-century lead mining boom and was named after Firmin V. Desloge, a member of a prominent mining family. Mining was central to the community's early growth, while railroads helped transport ore and supplies. The city was incorporated in 1941. Today, Desloge is a residential and commercial center for the surrounding area. Its location provides easy access to nearby parks, lakes, caves, and historic mining attractions. The Bonne Terre Mine, once a major lead mine, is one of the region's best-known attractions and is located a short drive from Desloge.
