Edgewater is a city located in Jefferson County, Colorado, the United States. It is located immediately west of Denver in the western part of the Denver metropolitan area. Downtown Denver is about 4 miles east, while Lakewood is about 3 miles west and Arvada is roughly 7 miles northwest. Edgewater is situated at approximately 39.75° North latitude and 105.06° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,005 residents. The city covers about 0.76 square miles, or 1.97 square kilometers, making it one of Colorado's smaller incorporated cities by land area. Edgewater was originally developed as a residential community near Denver and Lakewood and retains a compact street grid. Sloan's Lake is nearby to the east, while the South Platte River corridor lies farther west and south. The city's central location provides quick access to Denver's cultural attractions, restaurants, sports venues, and transportation network. The Front Range mountains are visible west of the metropolitan area.
