It is situated in west-central St. Louis County, west of the city of St. Louis and near the communities of Ballwin, Chesterfield, Manchester, and Wildwood. Downtown St. Louis is about 20 miles east, while Chesterfield is roughly 8 miles north and Ballwin is about 3 miles southeast. Ellisville is located at approximately 38.59° North latitude and 90.59° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 9,158 residents. The city covers about 4.29 square miles, or 11.11 square kilometers. Ellisville developed from a rural settlement into a suburban community as the St. Louis metropolitan area expanded westward.
