It lies in the north-central Denver metropolitan area, about 10 miles north of downtown Denver, 5 miles east of Westminster, and 7 miles southwest of Thornton. Federal Heights is positioned at approximately 39.866° North latitude and 105.015° West longitude. The city covers about 1.76 square miles, or 4.56 square kilometers, of land. The 2020 Census recorded 14,382 residents, while the 2023 population estimate was about 14,500. Federal Heights stands at an elevation of roughly 5,400 feet above sea level.
