It lies in the South Platte River Valley of northern Colorado, about 30 miles north of downtown Denver, 15 miles south of Greeley, and roughly 10 miles east of Thornton. Fort Lupton is positioned at approximately 40.084° North latitude and 104.813° West longitude. The city covers about 5.82 square miles, or 15.07 square kilometers, of land.
