Harrisonville is a city located in Cass County, Missouri, the United States. It lies in western Missouri, about 35 miles south of downtown Kansas City and roughly 20 miles north of Butler. Harrisonville is the county seat of Cass County and forms part of the southern Kansas City metropolitan area. The city is located at approximately 38.653° North latitude and 94.348° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,121 residents. Harrisonville covers about 11.93 square miles, or 30.90 square kilometers, and is primarily land. The community was founded in the 1830s and incorporated in 1837. Its location along early transportation routes helped it develop as a center for county government, agriculture, trade, and local services.
