Jennings is a city located in St. Louis County, Missouri, the United States. It lies in eastern Missouri, about 10 miles northwest of downtown St. Louis and roughly 15 miles west of the Mississippi River. Jennings is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area and is surrounded by other inner-ring communities in St. Louis County. The city is located at approximately 38.719° North latitude and 90.260° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 14,750 residents. Jennings covers about 3.31 square miles, or 8.57 square kilometers. The community developed during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as the St. Louis metropolitan area expanded and streetcar and railroad connections encouraged residential growth. Today, Jennings is primarily a residential community with schools, parks, churches, and local businesses. Forestwood Park and nearby parks provide green space and recreation for residents. A unique feature of Jennings is its close location to downtown St. Louis while retaining its own municipal government and neighborhood identity.
