Kennett is a city located in Dunklin County, Missouri, the United States. It lies in southeastern Missouri's Bootheel region, about 45 miles west of Blytheville, Arkansas, and roughly 55 miles northwest of Dyersburg, Tennessee. Kennett serves as the county seat of Dunklin County and is surrounded by flat, fertile farmland that supports cotton, soybeans, rice, corn, and other crops. The city is located at approximately 36.236° North latitude and 90.056° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,449 residents. Kennett covers about 7.62 square miles, or 19.74 square kilometers. The community developed during the late 19th century as railroads, agriculture, and regional trade expanded across the Missouri Bootheel. Today, farming remains an important part of the local economy and identity. The Dunklin County Courthouse is a prominent civic landmark in the city.
