Maplewood is a city located in St. Louis County, Missouri, the United States. It lies in eastern Missouri, about 8 miles west of downtown St. Louis and roughly 6 miles southeast of Clayton. Maplewood is located at approximately 38.612° North latitude and 90.324° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 8,178 residents, and the city covers about 1.56 square miles (4.04 sq km). Maplewood was incorporated in 1908 and developed as a streetcar suburb of St. Louis. Its location along major transportation routes helped attract homes, businesses, and light industry during the early 20th century. Today, the city has a compact urban layout with older residential neighborhoods and a busy commercial district along Manchester Road and Sutton Boulevard.
