Oak Grove is a city located in Jackson County, Missouri, the United States. It lies in western Missouri, about 30 miles east of downtown Kansas City and roughly 20 miles west of Lexington. Blue Springs is about 10 miles west, while Grain Valley is around 10 miles southwest. Oak Grove is positioned near 39.014° North latitude and 94.129° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 8,838 residents. The city covers about 6.29 square miles, or 16.29 square kilometers, including land and water. Oak Grove developed along transportation routes that connected western Missouri with the frontier, including the historic Santa Fe Trail. The city later became an important railroad community, and its location along Interstate 70 continues to support regional travel and commerce. Nearby attractions include Lake Remembrance, Fort Osage National Historic Landmark, and the Missouri Town Living History Museum. Oak Grove was incorporated in 1878.
