Pleasant Hill is a city located in Cass County, Missouri, the United States. It lies southeast of Kansas City, about 25 miles from downtown Kansas City and roughly 20 miles southwest of Independence. Lee's Summit is around 15 miles northwest, while Harrisonville is about 15 miles south. Pleasant Hill is positioned near 38.787° North latitude and 94.265° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 8,787 residents. The city covers about 9.77 square miles, or 25.30 square kilometers. Pleasant Hill was founded in 1842 and became an important railroad community after the arrival of the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Rail transportation helped connect the community with Kansas City and other markets and played an important role in local growth.
