Richmond Heights is a city located in St. Louis County, Missouri, the United States. It lies immediately west of the City of St. Louis in eastern Missouri, about 8 miles west of downtown St. Louis and roughly 2 miles south of Clayton. Maplewood borders the city to the south, while Brentwood is directly west. Richmond Heights is positioned near 38.628° North latitude and 90.319° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 8,603 residents. The city covers about 2.30 square miles, or 5.96 square kilometers. Richmond Heights was incorporated in 1913 after developing as a residential streetcar suburb of St. Louis. Its location beside Forest Park and major transportation corridors has made it one of the most centrally located communities in the metropolitan area. The Saint Louis Galleria is the city's largest commercial destination, attracting shoppers from across the region. Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the United States, borders Richmond Heights and provides museums, gardens, lakes, trails, and recreational facilities. A unique feature of Richmond Heights is that many of St. Louis's top cultural attractions are only minutes away. Interstate 64 and Interstate 170 intersect within the city, providing excellent access throughout the St. Louis region.
