Shrewsbury is a city located in St. Louis County, Missouri, the United States. It lies in the inner-ring suburbs of the St. Louis metropolitan area, about 8 miles southwest of downtown St. Louis. Webster Groves is about 2 miles southwest, Maplewood is roughly 3 miles west, and Clayton is about 4 miles northwest. Shrewsbury is located at 38.5926° North latitude and 90.3382° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,368 residents. The city covers about 1.41 square miles (3.65 square kilometers), with almost all of its area consisting of land. The River des Peres runs through the surrounding area and forms part of the local drainage system. Grant's Trail, a popular regional walking and cycling trail, is nearby. A unique feature of Shrewsbury is its compact size and location along the former St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway corridor, which helped shape the community's early development.
