Warrenton is a city located in Warren County, Missouri, the United States. It is in eastern Missouri, about 55 miles west of St. Louis, 25 miles east of Hermann, and approximately 35 miles north of Washington. Warrenton lies at about 38.811° North latitude and 91.142° West longitude. The city had 9,449 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 10.13 square miles, or 26.24 square kilometers. Warrenton was founded in the early 19th century and became the county seat of Warren County. The community developed as a regional center for agriculture, trade, and transportation. Interstate 70 passes just north of the city and provides a major east-west connection between St. Louis and Columbia. Warrenton is surrounded by farmland, rolling hills, and small waterways typical of eastern Missouri.
