Garrett is a city located in DeKalb County, Indiana, the United States. It is in northeastern Indiana, about 10 miles north of Auburn and 25 miles northwest of Fort Wayne. The city is part of the Fort Wayne metropolitan area and lies near Interstate 69, U.S. Route 6, and U.S. Route 27. Garrett is located at approximately 41.350° North latitude and 85.129° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,303 residents. The city covers about 3.15 square miles, or 8.16 square kilometers, almost entirely land. Garrett grew rapidly during the late 19th century because of its position on important railroad lines. The Garrett Railroad Historical Society and nearby historic railroad sites reflect that heritage. Its location also provides convenient access to Auburn, Fort Wayne, and the rural communities of northeastern Indiana.
