Lawrenceburg is a city located in Dearborn County, Indiana, the United States. It lies in southeastern Indiana along the Ohio River, about 25 miles west of Cincinnati, Ohio, and roughly 20 miles northwest of Florence, Kentucky. The city is located at approximately 39.091° North latitude and 84.850° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,922 residents, and Lawrenceburg covers about 5.11 square miles (13.23 sq km). The city was founded in 1802 and named for Amos Lawrence, a prominent American merchant and philanthropist. Lawrenceburg became the county seat of Dearborn County and grew as a river, trade, and transportation center. Its location along the Ohio River helped connect the community with Cincinnati and other settlements in the Ohio Valley. Historic downtown Lawrenceburg contains preserved buildings, shops, restaurants, and civic landmarks.
