Where is Wabash Located?
Wabash is a city located in Wabash County, Indiana, the United States. It is in north-central Indiana, about 45 miles southwest of Fort Wayne, 40 miles north of Muncie, and roughly 75 miles northeast of Indianapolis. Wabash lies at approximately 40.798° North latitude and 85.821° West longitude. The city had 10,440 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 9.10 square miles, or 23.57 square kilometers. The Wabash River runs along the northern side of the community and has influenced the area's settlement and development. Wabash was founded in the early 19th century and became the county seat of Wabash County. In 1880, the city became one of the first communities in the world to use electric street lighting, an event commemorated by the city today. The Honeywell Center is a major cultural and entertainment venue, while the Wabash County Historical Museum preserves local history. U.S. Route 24 provides a major east-west connection through the region.
