Somerton is a city located in Yuma County, Arizona, the United States. It lies in the Lower Colorado River Valley of southwestern Arizona, about 7 miles southwest of Yuma and roughly 10 miles north of the Mexican border. San Luis is about 12 miles southwest, while Wellton is approximately 25 miles east of Somerton. The city is located at 32.6007° North latitude and 114.6994° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 14,197 residents. Somerton covers about 7.28 square miles (18.87 square kilometers), with nearly all of its area consisting of land. The surrounding desert valley has extensive irrigated farmland supported by the Colorado River. Agriculture remains an important part of the local landscape and economy.
