Where is Ar Rayyan Located?

Ar Rayyan city is located on the east coast of the Qatar Peninsula in the Persian Gulf. Ar Rayyan's latitude and longitude is 25.2862° N, 51.4204° E . The estimated population of Ar Rayyan city is 6.06 lakhs residents as of 2018, in an area of more than 11.9 square kilometres (4.6 square miles).

Ar Rayyan is also known as Al Rayyan. The third-largest municipality in the state of Qatar is called Ar Rayyan. There are four municipalities that surround Ar Rayyan and they are Umm Salal to the northeast, Al-Shahaniya to the west, Doha to the east, and Al Wakrah to the southeast. It is divided into two main sections: the east, which contains the city of Al Rayyan, an urban outgrowth of Metropolitan Doha's westward development, and the west, which is made up of scattered rural towns, farms, and open desert. The municipality is home to 223 rawdas, 38 wadis, 24 jeris, six plains, six sabkhas, six capes, and six bays, as stated by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).

Fishing and pearling did not contribute to the development of the economy in Ar Rayyan's population centers in the eastern sector due to the absence of a coastline. There were 499 farms spread across 17,136 hectares, the majority of which (256) were engaged in growing crops, while 234 were mixed operations, 8 were engaged in raising cattle, and 1 was deemed to be "other." The municipality has 108,508 animals in its inventory, including 27,380 goats and 52,582 sheep. Only Al Khor had higher livestock numbers. The municipality is home to several old forts, the most of which are in Al Rayyan City. Al Wajbah Fort is one of these forts.

A number of Qatar Foundation institutions, including the Qatar Science & Technology Park and the Qatar National Convention Centre, are dispersed throughout the Al Gharrafa, Gharrafat Al Rayyan, and Al Shagub districts of Al Rayyan City, where Education City, which houses the majority of Qatar's universities, is located. The municipality is home to several multi-sports organizations, including Al Rayyan SC, Al-Gharafa SC, Muaither SC, Mesaimeer SC, and Al Sailiya SC. All of these are located inside Al Rayyan City's limits.
