Where is Coalinga Located?
Coalinga is a city located in Fresno County, California, the United States. It is in the western San Joaquin Valley, about 60 miles southwest of Fresno and 90 miles north of Bakersfield. Coalinga is located at approximately 36.1397° North latitude and 120.3602° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 17,590 residents, and the city covers about 8.54 square miles (22.12 sq km). The surrounding area has a dry landscape with rolling foothills, farmland, and oil fields. Coalinga developed after coal and petroleum resources were discovered in the area and was incorporated in 1906. Today, agriculture, energy, education, and transportation are important parts of the local economy. Interstate 5 runs along the eastern side of the city and provides a major north-south connection through California.
