Kerman is a city located in Fresno County, California, the United States. It lies in central California's San Joaquin Valley, about 15 miles west of Fresno and roughly 20 miles east of the foothills of the Coast Ranges. Kerman is part of the Fresno metropolitan area and is surrounded by productive farmland, orchards, vineyards, and agricultural operations. The city is located at approximately 36.724° North latitude and 120.060° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 16,151 residents. Kerman covers about 3.97 square miles, or 10.28 square kilometers. The community was established in the late 19th century and grew around agriculture, irrigation, and transportation. Farming remains central to the local economy, with grapes, almonds, pistachios, tomatoes, and other crops grown in the surrounding area.
