Pacific Grove is a city located in Monterey County, California, the United States. It lies on the western side of the Monterey Peninsula, about 3 miles west of Monterey and roughly 5 miles north of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Salinas is about 20 miles northeast, while Big Sur is around 30 miles south. Pacific Grove is positioned near 36.618° North latitude and 121.916° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 15,090 residents. The city covers about 2.86 square miles, or 7.41 square kilometers. Pacific Grove has a rugged coastline with rocky beaches, tide pools, coastal trails, and views across Monterey Bay. Point Pinos Lighthouse, built in 1855, is one of its best-known landmarks and is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the West Coast. The city is also close to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the protected waters of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Pacific Grove was incorporated in 1889.
