It lies in the southern Salinas Valley along U.S. Highway 101, about 25 miles southeast of Salinas and 30 miles northwest of King City. Monterey is about 45 miles northwest, while San Jose is roughly 75 miles north of Soledad. The city is located at approximately 36.4242° North latitude and 121.3260° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 24,925 residents. Soledad has about 4.46 square miles (11.55 square kilometers) of land area. The surrounding valley is known for agriculture, vineyards, rolling hills, and the nearby Santa Lucia Mountains.
