Cudahy is a city located in Los Angeles County, California, the United States. It lies about 10 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles and is surrounded by Bell, South Gate, Bell Gardens, and Huntington Park. Cudahy is located at approximately 33.9606° North latitude and 118.1853° West longitude. The city covers about 1.18 square miles (3.06 sq km) of land and had 22,811 residents in the 2020 Census. The compact city has a high population density and is part of the densely developed Los Angeles Basin. Cudahy was incorporated in 1960 and takes its name from Michael Cudahy, a Chicago meatpacking businessman who developed the community in the early 20th century. The city is mainly residential, with local businesses and parks serving nearby neighborhoods. Its location near Interstate 710 and other major roads provides connections to downtown Los Angeles and surrounding cities. The Los Angeles River is also close to the city.
