Emeryville is a city located in Alameda County, California, the United States. It lies on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, directly north of Oakland and south of Berkeley. Downtown Oakland is about 4 miles south, while Berkeley is roughly 3 miles north and downtown San Francisco is about 7 miles west across the bay. Emeryville is located at approximately 37.83° North latitude and 122.29° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 12,905 residents. The city covers about 1.25 square miles, or 3.24 square kilometers, making it one of the smallest incorporated cities in the Bay Area by land area. Emeryville developed from an industrial waterfront community into a dense urban center with housing, offices, shops, restaurants, and public spaces. Bay Street, Emeryville Marina, and the Emeryville Greenway are among its notable local features. The city also has direct access to Interstate 80 and is served by regional buses and the nearby Emeryville Amtrak station.
