It sits in the eastern San Joaquin Valley, about 15 miles northeast of Modesto, 8 miles west of Ripon, and about 20 miles southeast of Stockton. Escalon is located at approximately 37.798° North latitude and 120.997° West longitude. The city covers about 2.49 square miles, or 6.45 square kilometers. The 2020 Census recorded 7,244 residents, while the 2023 population estimate was about 7,600. Escalon stands at an elevation of roughly 105 feet above sea level. The area is surrounded by orchards, vineyards, dairy farms, and other agricultural land.
