It lies in the Santa Clara River Valley, about 25 miles east of Ventura, 18 miles west of Santa Clarita, and roughly 60 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Fillmore is positioned at approximately 34.399° North latitude and 118.918° West longitude. The city covers about 3.36 square miles, or 8.70 square kilometers, of land. The 2020 Census recorded 16,419 residents, while recent population estimates place the city at about 16,500 people. Fillmore stands at an elevation of roughly 470 feet above sea level. Citrus farming has long shaped the local economy and landscape, with orange and lemon groves surrounding the community.
