Guadalupe is a city located in Santa Barbara County, California, the United States. It lies on California's Central Coast near the Pacific Ocean, about 30 miles northwest of Santa Maria and roughly 45 miles southwest of San Luis Obispo. Guadalupe is located near the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes, one of the largest remaining coastal dune systems on the California coast. The city is positioned at approximately 34.971° North latitude and 120.572° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 7,077 residents. Guadalupe covers about 1.31 square miles, or 3.39 square kilometers, and is primarily land. The community was established in the 19th century and incorporated as a city in 1946. Agriculture has played a major role in local life, with the surrounding Santa Maria Valley supporting vegetables, berries, flowers, and other crops. The Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes National Wildlife Refuge lies nearby and protects important coastal habitat.
