Hughson is a city located in Stanislaus County, California, the United States. It lies in the central San Joaquin Valley, about 10 miles southeast of Modesto and roughly 12 miles northwest of Turlock. Hughson is part of the Modesto metropolitan area and is surrounded by productive farmland and orchards. The city is located at approximately 37.596° North latitude and 120.866° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 7,481 residents. Hughson covers about 1.62 square miles, or 4.20 square kilometers. Agriculture plays an important role in the local landscape, with almond orchards, fruit trees, and other crops surrounding the city. Hughson is sometimes called the "Blossom Trail City" because of the colorful spring blossoms found across the surrounding orchards.
