Ione is a city located in Amador County, California, the United States. It lies in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about 40 miles southeast of Sacramento and roughly 20 miles west of Jackson. Ione is part of the Sacramento metropolitan region and sits near the historic California Gold Country. The city is located at approximately 38.352° North latitude and 120.932° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,141 residents. Ione covers about 4.87 square miles, or 12.61 square kilometers.
