The city is situated in the Puente Hills at approximately 33.961° North latitude and 117.950° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,682 residents, and La Habra Heights covers about 5.85 square miles (15.15 sq km). The city is known for its rural atmosphere, spacious properties, equestrian traditions, and citrus-growing history. Hacienda Park is one of the city's main recreational areas, while nearby Hellman Park and the Puente Hills Preserve provide hiking trails and views across the region. La Habra Heights incorporated in 1978 after residents sought to preserve the area's low-density character. Unlike many surrounding communities, the city has maintained a largely rural landscape despite its location within a heavily developed metropolitan region.
