Larkspur is a city located in Marin County, California, the United States. It is in the North Bay area of the San Francisco Bay Area, about 10 miles north of San Francisco and roughly 5 miles south of San Rafael. Larkspur is located at approximately 37.934° North latitude and 122.536° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 12,508 residents, and the city covers about 3.24 square miles (8.39 sq km). The community lies near the eastern slopes of Mount Tamalpais, where wooded hills and narrow valleys surround the developed city. Larkspur was incorporated in 1908 and grew as a residential and commercial community connected to San Francisco by ferry and rail service. Its historic downtown is centered around Magnolia Avenue, which features older buildings, shops, restaurants, and local landmarks. The Larkspur Ferry Terminal provides passenger ferry service across San Francisco Bay to San Francisco.
