Orinda is a city located in Contra Costa County, California, the United States. It lies in the East Bay hills, about 15 miles east of downtown San Francisco and roughly 5 miles east of Berkeley. Lafayette is about 5 miles northeast, while Oakland is around 10 miles southwest. Orinda is positioned near 37.878° North latitude and 122.180° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 19,514 residents. The city covers about 12.72 square miles, or 32.94 square kilometers. Orinda has a hilly landscape with wooded neighborhoods, creeks, and open spaces.
