Where is Rio Vista Located?

Rio Vista is a city located in Solano County, California, the United States. It lies in the California Delta along the Sacramento River, about 35 miles northeast of Fairfield and roughly 45 miles southwest of Sacramento. Antioch is around 20 miles southwest, while Vacaville is about 30 miles northwest. Rio Vista is positioned near 38.155° North latitude and 121.691° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,005 residents. The city covers about 6.60 square miles, or 17.09 square kilometers. Rio Vista was incorporated in 1894 and developed as a river and agricultural community. Its position along the Sacramento River made the city an important transportation point for farming and regional trade. Today, the waterways around Rio Vista support fishing, boating, windsurfing, water skiing, and other outdoor activities. The city is known as the Gateway to the Delta because of its location among the extensive waterways of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The Rio Vista Museum preserves local artifacts and stories, while the waterfront provides access to the river and nearby Delta channels.
