Shasta Lake is a city located in Shasta County, California, the United States. It lies in Northern California along Interstate 5, about 10 miles north of Redding and roughly 45 miles south of Dunsmuir. The city is about 125 miles north of Sacramento and sits near the southern end of Shasta Lake. Shasta Lake is located at 40.6804° North latitude and 122.3708° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,371 residents. The city covers about 10.8 square miles (28.0 square kilometers), with most of its area consisting of land. Shasta Lake and Shasta Dam are the area's most prominent geographic and engineering landmarks. The surrounding Shasta-Trinity National Forest provides forests, mountain scenery, trails, and outdoor recreation. A unique feature of the city is that it was incorporated in 1993 from several separate communities that developed around the lake, highway, railroad, and timber industries.
