It lies on the Pacific coast in northern San Diego County, about 20 miles north of downtown San Diego and 3 miles north of Del Mar. Encinitas is about 5 miles north, while Escondido is roughly 20 miles northeast of the city. Solana Beach is located at approximately 32.9912° North latitude and 117.2717° West longitude.
