Where is Westlake Village Located?
Westlake Village is a city located in Los Angeles County, California, the United States. It is in western Los Angeles County near the Ventura County border, about 40 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, 15 miles east of Thousand Oaks, and roughly 10 miles north of Malibu. Westlake Village lies at approximately 34.146° North latitude and 118.805° West longitude. The city had 8,029 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 5.49 square miles, or 14.22 square kilometers. Westlake Village was incorporated in 1981 and is one of the smaller incorporated cities in Los Angeles County. The community developed around Westlake Lake and the surrounding residential and commercial areas beginning in the 1960s. The lake remains one of the city's most recognizable geographic features. The surrounding Santa Monica Mountains provide a scenic backdrop and access to hiking, wildlife viewing, and open-space recreation. Nearby attractions include Malibu beaches, Paramount Ranch, Point Dume State Beach, and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. U.S. Route 101 is the main highway serving the city and connects Westlake Village with Thousand Oaks, Ventura, and the greater Los Angeles area.
