Winters is a city located in Yolo County, California, the United States. It is in Northern California near the western edge of the Sacramento Valley, about 30 miles west of Sacramento, 15 miles west of Davis, and approximately 20 miles northeast of Vacaville. Winters lies at approximately 38.525° North latitude and 121.970° West longitude. The city had 7,149 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 2.91 square miles, or 7.54 square kilometers. Winters was incorporated in 1898 and developed around agriculture, transportation, and the Southern Pacific Railroad. The surrounding area is known for orchards, vineyards, farms, and rolling hills at the edge of the Vaca Mountains. Putah Creek passes through the area and provides important habitat and recreation opportunities. Winters is also close to Lake Berryessa and the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument, making the city a convenient base for outdoor activities.
