It is in Central California at the southern foothills of the Sierra Nevada, about 15 miles east of Visalia, 10 miles south of Sequoia National Park, and approximately 20 miles north of Porterville. Woodlake lies at approximately 36.414° North latitude and 119.099° West longitude. The city had 7,392 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 2.35 square miles, or 6.09 square kilometers. Woodlake was incorporated in 1910 and developed as an agricultural community in the San Joaquin Valley.
