Brady is a city located in McCulloch County, Texas, the United States. It is in Central Texas, near the geographic center of the state. Brady is approximately 100 miles southeast of San Angelo, 110 miles northwest of Austin, and about 120 miles west of Waco. The city is located at approximately 31.1352° North latitude and 99.3351° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,321 residents. Brady covers about 11.43 square miles, or 29.60 square kilometers, with most of its area consisting of land. Brady Lake and the San Saba River are important geographic features near the city. The community is widely known as the “Heart of Texas,” a name linked to its central location within the state. Brady was founded in the 1870s and became the county seat of McCulloch County.
