Manvel is a city located in Brazoria County, Texas, the United States. It lies in southeastern Texas, about 25 miles south of downtown Houston and roughly 10 miles west of Pearland. Manvel is located at approximately 29.462° North latitude and 95.358° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 16,027 residents, and the city covers about 29.49 square miles (76.38 sq km). Manvel was incorporated in 1961 and developed from a rural farming and ranching community. Its location along important transportation routes helped the city remain connected to Houston, Pearland, Alvin, and other communities in the region. Rice, cattle, and other agricultural activities shaped the area's early economy. In recent decades, Manvel has experienced substantial residential growth as the Houston metropolitan area expanded southward. The nearby Gulf Coast plain features wetlands, bayous, prairies, and waterways that support diverse wildlife.
