Marlin is a city located in Falls County, Texas, the United States. It lies in Central Texas, about 25 miles southeast of Waco and roughly 85 miles northeast of Austin. Marlin is located at approximately 31.307° North latitude and 96.898° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,967 residents, and the city covers about 5.43 square miles (14.06 sq km). Marlin was founded in the 19th century and incorporated in 1867. It serves as the county seat of Falls County and developed as an agricultural and commercial center. The arrival of the railroad helped Marlin expand and connect with other communities across Central Texas. The city became especially well known for its mineral springs, which attracted visitors seeking the reputed health benefits of the warm waters.
