Palmview is a city located in Hidalgo County, Texas, the United States. It lies in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, about 20 miles west of McAllen and roughly 10 miles north of the Mexico border. Mission is around 5 miles east, while Rio Grande City is about 25 miles west. Palmview is positioned near 26.234° North latitude and 98.379° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,710 residents. The city covers about 2.71 square miles, or 7.02 square kilometers. Palmview developed from a rural agricultural community and became closely connected to the citrus-growing industry of the Lower Rio Grande Valley. The Rio Grande lies south of the city and forms the international boundary between the United States and Mexico. Nearby Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge protects wetlands, woodlands, and wildlife habitat along the river. Palmview was incorporated in 1978.
