Pampa is a city located in Gray County, Texas, the United States. It lies in the Texas Panhandle, about 60 miles northeast of Amarillo and roughly 100 miles southwest of Canadian. Borger is around 35 miles northwest, while Miami is about 25 miles east. Pampa is positioned near 35.537° North latitude and 100.959° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 16,193 residents. The city covers about 9.18 square miles, or 23.78 square kilometers. Pampa developed as a railroad and agricultural center before oil and natural gas discoveries helped transform the local economy during the 20th century. The surrounding landscape consists of broad plains used for cattle ranching and farming. Lake McClellan, located northwest of the city, provides opportunities for fishing, camping, boating, and outdoor recreation. Pampa was incorporated in 1907 and became the county seat of Gray County.
