Willis is a city located in Montgomery County, Texas, the United States. It is in southeastern Texas, about 40 miles north of downtown Houston, 10 miles north of Conroe, and approximately 30 miles southwest of Huntsville. Willis lies at approximately 30.424° North latitude and 95.479° West longitude. The city had 6,431 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 6.24 square miles, or 16.16 square kilometers. Willis was incorporated in 1937 and developed along the railroad and transportation routes that connected communities across Montgomery County. The surrounding region is characterized by pine forests, wooded areas, creeks, and lakes. Lake Conroe is located just west of Willis and is one of the area's major recreation destinations, offering boating, fishing, swimming, and waterfront activities.
