Bastrop is a city located in Bastrop County, Texas, the United States. The city lies on the banks of the Colorado River along Texas State Highway 71, approximately 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Austin, 35 miles (56 km) northwest of La Grange, and about 95 miles (153 km) northeast of San Antonio. Bastrop is located at 30.1105° North latitude and 97.3153° West longitude. According to the 2020 United States Census, the city had a population of 9,688. Bastrop covers approximately 9.35 square miles (24.22 sq km). The city is widely recognized for its historic Main Street district, outdoor recreation, and its unique Lost Pines ecosystem.
